Get out and shoot!

There are a lot of first time gun owners this year. The ranges are singing with sweet gunfire.

Get out and shoot! There is no time better than now to get your skills sharp and your weapons zeroed.

Try to get as many others hooked on firearms as you can. If you have friends that wouldn't even think of owning a gun (I am not going to judge you on your choice of friends) take them to the range and show them what fun they are missing. Even if it's just a .22 with gongs and spinners you can start chipping away at their resistance.

(For the old timers... watch out at the ranges there are a bunch of first time gun owners out there... keep your head down)

Just kidding.

If your an seasoned shooter and happen upon new shooters at the range please be careful to be courteous when giving pointers on safety or marksmanship. I can't count the stories of ruined shooting trips because of an angry "know it all" that just wouldn't take the time to calmly explain simple rules or practices that all shooters should abide by.

Remember shooting should be fun and relaxing.

Just find some happy ground between ammo on hand, and ability to purchase more.

Agreed! Shooting experience is important.

If it's in one's budget I recommend getting a .22lr rifle and pistol in addition to centerfire firearms as this allows you to practice on the cheap.

As far as training goes, you can't beat the Appleseed Project. Check out their website at http://www.appleseedinfo.org/

(It is an all volunteer organization. Cost is currently $75 for a weekend with women, minors and active duty military shooting for free.)

They have a fantastic rifle marksmanship and a highly interesting revolution war history program.

I've gone to a few of them and have been rather impressed. I've yet to shoot a rifleman score. :( I need to hit the range!

I shoot what I can when I can from battle rifle down to airsoft and everything inbetween. Hell, I'll even shoot a rubber band when I can....and don't even get me started about bows and arrows....Its like some sort of sickness:sarc: I love it...God help me...I love it so!:36_3_16:Bx3

PS. Is it so wrong that I bought my Son a BB gun...........for his third birthday?:23_31_2::111:

Agreed.

I am going to be taking some classes in November. Shooting paper is okay but situational training is better.
